Basin Stone

Sunday 4th May 2014

Year 7 of our annual gatherings to remember the Chartists.  About 40 people, accompanied by 3 paragliders, walked up to the cliffs at the end of the Blackstone Edge ridge to picnic and to sing – or listen to the singing.  Nine of us walked up from Todmorden, via the Basin Stone.  Three walked up from Littleborough and everyone else started from the car-park below the White House pub.  Nick Wilding came along and filmed the singing.  A fine, dry day.  Not sunny, but no rain.  Singers from Calder Valley Voices and East Lancs Clarion Choir, with individuals joining in, making use of East Lancs Clarion’s word-sheets.  Singing led by Janet Russell.  The throng joined by Friends of Clarion House (Newchurch-in-Pendle) and many supportive individuals.
